The Bass Reeves Bronze Sculpture is a striking tribute to one of Americas greatest lawmen. This work of art commemorates the extraordinary life and legacy of the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi River. This particular sculpture depicts Bass Reeves walking a beat as a Muskogee police officer towards the end of his life.
Renowned for his success in capturing over 3,000 fugitives during his storied career, Bass Reeves brought justice to the lawless Oklahoma Territory. Joel masterfully captures his commanding presence and unwavering determination, symbolizing the strength and resilience of a man who broke barriers and defied the odds.
The Bass Reeves Bronze Sculpture honors all contributions to law enforcement and serves as an enduring reminder of the importance of justice, equality and perseverance. It stands as an inspiration to all, celebrating the life of a true American hero whose legacy continues to resonate throughout history.
The heroic sized bronze sculpture is placed strategically in front of an old west mural painted by Dr Robert Palmer at the Three Rivers Museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
"This is the best example of a single-figure creative endeavor in Joel Randell’s now-rich history of iconic bronzes, equal to his recent Tour de Force of sculpting six figures together for the ages. With new technologies advancing digital experiences, it is comforting that traditional masters can still stimulate the appreciation of worldwide art lovers with the skills of a Michelangelo."
