The NSU Veterans Monument is a distinguished tribute to the unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifices of all veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Situated prominently on the Northeastern State University campus in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the monument honors the legacy of both men and women who have selflessly defended the freedoms and values of the United States of America.
Masterfully designed by Joel with reverence and artistry, the bronze sculpture symbolizes strength, resilience and unity, celebrating the diverse contributions of all veterans across the generations. The design captures the various branches of the military during different periods of military engagement throughout American history.
The composition displays a variety of heroic action poses capturing the world wide service of the U.S. military. Standing on top of the globe is a patriotic female figure representing the Homefront. She confidently holds the U.S. flag and a lit beacon surrounded by her faithful service men and women. This represents all those who await the return of their loved ones and serves as a timeless reminder of the shared values of service, sacrifice and patriotism that unifies us all.
"This wonderful monument here on the campus of Northeastern State is a tribute to all of those who have served, many of whom have given their lives to support the values of this country. We're so proud of Northeastern State and all of those who have served"
Chancellor Dr. Allison Garrett, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education
