Del City Women's Veterans Monument

The Del City Women's Veterans Monument is a profound tribute to the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The sculpture was commissioned by the City of Del City, and celebrates the invaluable contributions of women veterans who have broken barriers and exemplified unwavering commitment to defending nation's freedoms.

This monument consists of 7 life-sized bronze figures, 5 of which are holding hands surrounding a flagpole. The sculpture is enhanced by water features, including fountains, a waterfall and a reflection pool. The entire monument is clad in lustrous black granite walls that lead from the main sculpture, to the reflection pool where a National Guard Service lady sits with her young daughter in an intimate moment.

Commissioned by the women of the Women's Veterans Committee, Randell used his mastery of bronze sculpting to realize their vision, and create a contemplative and world class timeless artwork. The groundbreaking monument was one of the first in the nation to recognize the significant contribution and sacrifices of women in the military.

"This monument is well deserved and long overdue. Other communities should follow the example. Recognition of this magnitude for our women in the military is uncommon, but many extraordinary women have served and deserve that recognition. I am deeply grateful to the people of Del City and all those that made it possible to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of all the women of the U.S. Armed Forces."

Eleanor McDaniel, President of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chapter of the Oklahoma Women’s Veteran Organization
